Watercolour Painting courses in Italy

Italy is a wonderful country. It is one of my personal favourite holiday destinations. It has everything from history, wonderful buildings, culture, amazing scenery and a cosmopolitan feel to it. Italy, in my opinion, oozes style. The food is great. Their local shops sell home grown local produce that overflows with taste and the wine tastes much better than it does over here in the UK. It must be the warm climate !

Watercolour painting is very popular and where better to improve your skills than under the watchful eyes of professional artists and in wonderful surroundings.

The watercolour painting course

If you are a keen watercolour painter or are looking for a beginners watercolour painting course then we can offer you a fantastic watercolour painting holiday in the Apennines area of Italy which is between Bologna and Florence.Over the course of one week you will have 10 hours tuition from professional art teachers and the course costs from £228 per person depending on the month you travel.

Where is the watercolour painting course?

You will stay in the beautiful Al Vecchio Convento in Portico di Romagna which is about 46 miles from Florence.

Al Vecchio Convento is a beautiful, family run hotel in 19th century palace, which also has one of the best restaurants in Romanga. Al Vecchio Convento – The Old Convent – mixes tradition with healthy food according to the seasons. Here you will enjoy the true taste of Romagna through local produce, including mushrooms, truffles, strong cheeses, aromatic herbs, soft fruits, honey and, of course pasta. From spring to autumn the hotel’s own vegetable garden and greenhouses supply the restaurant with fresh picked produce and you can also join a cookery course if you want to discover more.

The main hotel has 7 double and 2 single rooms with private facilities which are finely furnished with traditional materials and original 18th century Palazzo furniture. The hotel has an annexe across the road, 50 metres away, where there are a further 5 double and 1 single rooms all with private facilities.

Venice Sinks Under The Weight Of Vending Machines & Handbags

Venice, Italy Grand CanalVenice is one of our most popular city break destinations. Personally as well, I love the place. If you haven’t been to Venice yet, then you should make the effort to go because it is one of the most unusual cities in the world. It is very easy to get lost in Venice as the city is a labyrinth of narrow streets and back alleys, all built on a network of canals. There are no cars in the city centre. All deliveries are made by gondola or other boats.

There has been much publicity over the years about Venice slowly sinking into the sea. But now a new subject is worrying the locals. The local council have just done a deal with the drinks company Coco-Cola. In return for funds the council have allowed Coco-Cola to install vending machines throughout the city. This has anoyed the locals as there is actually a ban in place which forbids eating and drinking in St Mark’s Square unless you are seated at one of the many expensive cafes there. They also feel that the new vending machines will be a blot on the landscape and we have got to agree with them. Venice has many stunning historic buildings dating back centuries.

The prospect of  Coco-Cola vending machines appearing in those cherished tourist photographs is not a good thought !Don’t let this put you off visiting Venice though. The city won’t be sinking under the weight of vending machines just yet, although maybe combined with the weight of all those fake designer handbags that are for sale on the streets may just be the final straw !
