How to Apply Fake Tan

One of the reasons many of us go on holiday is to get the nice healthy glow of a tan.

As long as you are sensible in the sun and avoid getting sunburnt then a tan can make you feel good about yourself.

Of course, if you can’t afford a holiday then you might want to give the impression that you have been to an exotic dream holiday destination and what better way to do that than by having a fake tan !We asked our staff here at Global Holidays about the best way to apply a fake tan and this is what seems to work for them !

Before you apply fake tan

Before you start applying your fake tan you need to find a fake tan that suits you best. Buy some small samples of fake tan and then try them on a part of your body no one will see, so that you can see how the colour comes looks.Once you have chosen the make of fake tan that is best for you to use on your whole body, make sure you exfoliate before you begin, using a loofah or some kind of body scrub. This will make the colour go on much smoother and more naturally. Dry your skin afterwards and decide where you are going to apply the tanner. You might want to apply some moisturiser to areas where the skin is a bit tougher than the rest of your body, like knees and elbows.

Make fake tan look natural

Start from your feet and work up, as this way you don’t get lines and streaks on your upper body when you bend over. Apply the cream in even, circular motions. You should to try wear rubber gloves as this will the make application of the fake tan smoother and they will also protect your hands from staining. Don’t apply too much fake tan on areas like your knees or elbows and when you apply it to your face, watch you don’t overdo your neck in comparison. If you want cream applied to your back you will need help from a friend !Once you have applied the fake tan you should wash your hands immediately to stop staining. You have to let the tanning cream dry for at  least half an hour, so don’t put clothes back on or you will stain them and cause patches to develop on your skin. The only thing to do is sit on a towel in a room where you have some privacy so that you are not moving around much. A good time of the day to apply self tanning lotion is before you go to bed, so that you don’t stain your clothes, but remember to put old towels on the sheets so that you don’t stain them either.

Preserve that fake tan

You will need to reapply the cream every few days or as you see necessary and apply moisturising cream. This article was written by Global Holidays, the travel agent for cheap holidays
